AFRAA and Env-isa sign an MoU to facilitate the Sustainable Development of African Airlines
January 2025, Paris – FRANCE – Env-isa and the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for cooperation and facilitate collaboration on initiatives aimed at the sustainable growth and development of the African aviation industry.
Under this MoU, Env-isa and AFRAA will work closely to achieve their shared objectives, including contributing to capacity building, policy development, and fostering sustainability practices. This collaboration will leverage Env-isa’s expertise in aviation sustainability, cultivated over 20 years, to support AFRAA’s vision of a sustainable air transport industry in Africa where African Airlines drive economic development.
The collaboration will focus on key areas of action, such as:
- Sustainability of African Airlines and relevant stakeholder organisations in the Aviation eco-system
- Environmental policy development
- Training & human capacity building
- Sustainable Aviation Fuels initiatives in Africa
- Facilitation of Carbon Management to reach NetZeroEmit (GHG CO2-non CO2)
- Noise, Air Quality, Life Cycle Assessment
- ESG Reporting
- Carbon offset strategy and offset projects delivery
