AFRAA interventions at the GHI Africa conference on 15 October 2024 on SAATM were made by Mr Sinaly Bagayoko – Senior Manager Technical & Operations and Ms. Maureen Kahonge – Senior Manager Business Development & Communications.

Themed: State of the nation: ‘I still dream of a single African sky’ The AFRAA presentation covered the market update on the latest developments in the long running campaign to create a single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and progress updates on SAATM since GHI’s African Conference last convened in September 2023.

The panel session, themed: “The GHI Big Debate: ending monopolies, embracing collaboration and advancing the single African sky”, explored the tangible steps to boosting collaboration and engaging policy-makers in favour of SAATM. The panel further discussed what a pan African approach means for reducing ticket costs and making flying more affordable in a region that accounts for 2% of global traffic despite being home to nearly 20% of the world’s population.
